National Poison Prevention Week 2018

In celebration of National Poison Prevention Week (NPPW), March 18-24th, individuals and organizations around the country come together to raise poison prevention awareness. On February 7, 1962, President John F. Kennedy responded to a United States Congressional request and proclaimed the third week of March as National Poison Prevention Week. NPPW is always the third week in March, and is a week designated to highlight the dangers of poisonings and how to prevent them.

It’s Time to Take Action and YOU Can Help

  • Inspect your entire home for any medicines or household products, such as detergents, cleaning products, pesticides, and chemicals that may not be stored properly and correct the situation immediately. Always store medicines and household products up high, away and out of sight from children.
  • National Poison Prevention Week is a time to raise awareness in your community about ways to prevent unintentional poisonings. (Order free educational resources here)
  • Program the Poison Help line, 1-800-222-1222, into your phone so you are prepared in case you ever need to call us.
