The Missouri Poison Center recently participated in the SSM Health Nursing Symposium. It was a day-long conference to bring together nurses across SSM Health and students from the Saint Louis University School of Nursing. The theme was “Presence in Practice: Seeing the Person in Every Patient”. Missouri Poison Center is always focused on providing quality care to each of our callers, but this was a great opportunity to refresh our skills, share best practices, and learn from our colleagues.
We are proud to report the Missouri Poison Center staff presented two posters at the symposium – one about nicotine exposures in children and the other about management of acetaminophen overdose in the hospital. Of note, out of 19 posters in its category, the nicotine poster was awarded second place! This is a true testament to the hard work and dedication of our specially trained nurses and pharmacists on the hotline.
